  2. Catch waves only from designated take off areas.

  6. Always follow safety rules and surf guide instruction.
  7. Only surfers are allowed in the lagoon.
  8. Participate responsibly. You should be capable of self-rescue. You should be in good health and know your physical conditions and limitations. If you believe your health could be at risk or aggravate a pre-existing condition of any kind, do not surf.

NLand also has board racks in multiple locations throughout the park. Be sure to keep an eye on your board—it is your responsibility, not ours.

Surfer Responsibility Code

The Code ensures everyone enjoys the waves and is safe during their time at NLand. Know the Code.

  1. Always stay in control, and be able to avoid other surfers or objects.
  2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
  3. Whenever you are in the lagoon, be aware of other surfers and yield to others.
  4. Prior to entering the lagoon, you must have the knowledge and ability to swim safely.
  5. Always use a leash and maintain control of your equipment.
  6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Stay away from closed areas.
  7. Respect the staff. Respect other surfers. Respect the park.

Surf Shop

The Surf Shop stocks anything you forgot plus tons of great gear, including high performance surfboards, GoPros, Native Sunglasses and NLand and RVCA apparel.

All guests purchasing a surf pass, shore pass, coaching session or clinic must sign our waiver either online or on-site. For expediency, we encourage all guests to fill out the waiver in advance.

If a guest is under the age of 18, his or her parent or legal guardian must fill out the waiver on the minor’s behalf. Aunts, uncles, grandparents or family friends that are not legal guardians may not sign for the minor.

The lagoon is filled with rainwater that has been collected from our reservoir and treated.

NLand generates hundreds of waves each day, including steep, high performance Reef Waves, long, open-face party waves, and playful white water Bay Waves. NLand is Austin’s home break for experts and beginners alike.

The wave runs in two directions on both sides of the lagoon, so whether you are on the east Reef or the west Reef, you will be able to surf both a left and a right.

There are Surf Guides in the water at each wave to ensure safety standards are being met, and to enforce the Surfer Responsibility Code.

In the event of lightning, tornados or other major weather occurrences, we will evacuate the lagoon to ensure the safety of our guests. Please note, we post weather alerts at the top of our website.

If a session is cut short, we will pro-rate a refund based on time in the water. However, a session which lasts 45 minutes or more is considered complete and no refund will be given.

Wetsuits are available for purchase at our Surf Shop or for rent at our Surf Shack. Wetsuits cost $15 to rent (per day).
